Happy Easter!
Well, what else do you do at this time of year other than to hatch chicks? We have 11 little beaks to keep warm, fed and watered over the coming weeks, until the weather warms up and they can be put out with the others to begin fending for themselves. Wondering how many are hens and how many cockerels? All will become obvious over the coming days as each will begin to show their character - the boys are always more adventurous than the girls! Why not stay at The Barn and help us look after them? See www.barfordfarmhouse.com for further details.

More Snow!
And here we were, minding our own business, when what should come flurrying down was more snow - so much for the weather forecast! Ever the ones to make the most of things, it was on with the walking boots, warm coats, thick gloves and, not forgetting the ear muffs, it was off for a spontaneous walk. We are lucky to be surrounded by some fabulous walking countryside, criss-crossed by bridleways and footpaths. Most are well sign-posted. Only once did we need to retrace our steps when the track on which we were rambling petered out to nothing. It's quite amazing how the countryside can look quite different when covered with a sprinkling of snow! It was also fascinating to track so much of the local wildlife, pheasant and deer included, which couldn't help but leave their mark on the snow. What fun!

It's 2013 already!
It's already the middle of January and we at The Barn have been busy giving our holiday cottage a fresh lick of paint, whilst also adding a few new features, all of which are designed to enhance our guests' holiday with us in Hampshire. So, for instance, we are always happy, wherever possible, to provide what our guests need, even those who have yet to stay. When a prospective guest recently informed us they would require grab rails to help them shower, we have taken the necessary steps and have now provided them! Consequently a booking was made and we now look forward to the testing of the new grab rails in September, if not before! Cup of coffee now downed, blog restarted and so back to the painting. Happy 2013!
